Hey Dilbo, why don’t you tell us about yourself and what you do. What prompted you to just sit down one day and hit the “Start Streaming” button?
I have always loved to entertain, I have been a musician basically my entire life and a gamer the same amount of time. It’s just the perfect marriage to be honest. I get to play games and entertain people. If I can have a positive effect on someone’s day then I’m a happy person. Luckily, with streaming I can affect a lot of people every day.
Your channel has followed a few games: Crowfall, Elyon, New World, Valorant, Lost Ark, The Cycle, etc. Does any game stand out in particular regarding your streaming career?
Oh my, that list! Yeah, I have covered a lot of games since I first started. I've been trying to find my “home” I guess you could say. Some people may see that as me being inconsistent, but really its difficult to stick to a game that has a fading playerbase OR is too large for a small streamer like me to gain traction in. If you look at all those games the only one that you could say was a “home” was Crowfall. Unfortunately after putting 1k+ hours into streaming, it came along with spending countless hours with the community, making videos, and casting events. The game didn’t perform well. I love that game and it will always have a special place in my heart for giving me my first “home” on Twitch. Heck, that game is the reason I’m a twitch partner and why I have so many friends that I have today. I’ll always cherish those memories with Crowfall. Right now I’m fully focused on The Cycle and making that my home. I just keep playing games that either don't do to well OR I end up not liking. I think The Cycle has a real shot at being a big game AND I like it.
A little birdy filled me in on the “hot butter through knife” situation. Explain yourself.
So, Crowfall had a big tournament that spanned multiple weekends. I was casting the tournament with my friend Bzra. Bzra and I kept trying to come up with funny stuff to say when people would get into fights. Really it was Bzra, and I tried to keep up cause he was saying some funny things. One time a team was just destroying another team in a fight. I wanted to say “like a hot knife through butter” but it came out wrong. The nerves of doing something I hadn't done before + lots of viewers + trying to be entertaining just made me say it the wrong way. I didn't even know I said it like that until after the event when people were turning it into a meme. Now its just a lil’ thing from the Crowfall days that a lot of people remember fondly and I love that.
What is your favorite aspect of your stream? Don’t say “the chat” that's a cop out and we both know it.
Well I mean it is the chat haha, but I’ll go a lil deeper than that. Honestly, this is difficult to do and it’s become harder as I’ve grown, but I really try to know at least 1 thing about every single person in my chat. Know about their life, what their situation is, etc. I feel like if I do that people will understand that they are important as all hell to me, ‘cause they really are! I do that or at least try to, and I have made some really good friends. I do genuinely care about these people and I'm not sure if that will ever go away.
To me my stream is like throwing a house party: when people show up we are having a great time and the party is bumping. But at the same time when no one does its painful as fuck. So I’ve tried to move away from that parasocial relationship with the chat cause it does hurt when people that you think care don’t come to a stream. But, I still do it. It’s just who I am and I love it. I love the fact that their are so many people that I have had a conversation with from all walks of life that I would never of had otherwise. It’ll always be special to me.
What is something outside of Twitch and your community that people might not know about you?
That’s actually hard to come up with because I’m pretty much an open book and share probably way more than I should with people in my chat. I guess I could say that people don’t know much about my musician side. Like they know I can play but it’s not something I talk about or do on stream much. I’ve thought about it and thought about how I could incorporate it into my stream. But, I think that its something I want to keep separate. I’ve played my guitar on stream and made a couple of songs before but writing music and playing music has always been something I kept separated from streaming. I want to eventually go back to writing albums and performing music live but I feel like that time in my life will come later on and its not something I can really do at the same time as streaming for some reason.
What’s the deal with the hamster mask?
So it’s actually a guinea pig BUT the reason I have it goes back to Crowfall. In Crowfall you can play as a guinician (which is a guinea pig). One time on stream someone asked me how many subs it would take to get me to purchase the suit I have and do a stream with it on. I said 500 subs (thinking it would never happen) well I’ll be dammed it did. Between a couple huge supporters that gifted 100+ subs each + everyone else with the incredible support. We hit the 500 subs on my 1 year streaming anniversary which was the last day of my stream everyday for a year straight challenge. So I purchased it and did an entire guinea pig stream where we watch the history of guinea pigs and just did guinea pig stuff while I was in the suit. Nowadays I bring it out on special occasions and when I think it’ll add just that extra “umph” to a moment. Every time I put it on I choke on the hair and sweat my ass off so its not something I do out of pleasure. Its just mainly for the stream to enjoy and for me to put on the best show that I can.
On Bronze League, we have a cute lil’ section called Bronze Buds where Buds of Bronze League talk about a game that is important to them. They pick a game to recommend, review, shit on, analyze, etc. Now it’s your turn. What game are you bringing to the table?
I gotta say to this day my favorite game is Lost Planet. Its a old Capcom game for Xbox 360 and it was my first time being a really competitive player in a game. I was always fighting for top 100 in the world and really enjoyed the combat and play style that game offered. One day I wanna make a game like it just so I can play it again haha
I know when I am streaming, I can never find a happy medium for the temperate of my feet. What is your pro-strat for keeping those bad boys regulated?
No socks ever just let ‘em out free like nature intended
If you had to fist fight one of your Mods, who would it be and why?
Damn, all my mods are my buds. They normally are just long term supporters who are around so much that I give them mod. I would say maybe Zotrin? He boxes and I would wanna see if I could hold my own.
Here is your time to PLUG! Tell everyone what you have been working on and what they should be checking out.
Well nowadays my content can be broken up into 3 things. My stream, my YouTube, and now my website. My plan is do have all 3 dedicated to the game I’m playing. So my BIG project right now is the site for The Cycle that I’m making thecycledb.com. It goes along with my passion of teaching and helping people learn the game.
