My man! Thanks for doing this interview with Bronze League, why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself and your stream.
My name is GeeksEh, I’m a Canadian content creator and I’ve been doing this now for about five years! My background would be that I’m a Red Seal Chef in Canada and then I started doing a little bit of support work with people who have disabilities, and on the side I started streaming just for fun. Eventually that led to me becoming a full-time content creator after years. I worked all three jobs and worked my ass off and now here I am!
It's no secret, Escape from Tarkov is your main stream game. I love watching you because it is educational as well as entertaining. How do you feel about the current wipe and the general state of Tarkov at the moment?
So of course, we are in late wipe and it is the same feelings we always have late wipe. We are feeling a little bit of wipe fatigue I’d say. I know that their main goal is to get rid of this feeling eventually right? I think everything that they are adding to Tarkov is making it better and stronger as a video game. As we continue on with them adding more content and wiping more and more, we will be lessening the period where we get wipe fatigue earlier and earlier. Back in the day, we used to get wipe fatigue within 2 months, but now its getting closer to 4 months. Obviously they are seeing this and they are working to lessen that fatigue. I think Tarkov is in an amazing place, I think it’s an amazing video game and there isn’t another game like it.
You are one of the few who have a fun colored name in Tarkov. Tell us about how you got that cool purple tag and what it stands for, and what it means to you.
Yes, I have a purple tag for being an emissary, which means that I’m a bridge between the community and Battlestate games themselves. So, if you have issues with the game I tell you where to go, what to do, what to fix or what to try. I just generally get the feedback from the community on how they are feeling about stuff.
With the trader event that happened (the trader’s were kidnapped for a ransom fee! ) I was relaying all the stuff people were saying and trying to let them know what the feeling was out there in the world, and that’s what I do!
This is a non-paid thing and it’s just me volunteering and I’m honored to be part of the team, and the reason I am a part of this team, on top of everything else, is because I want the game to succeed and I want the game to grow. I want everyone to try this game because I love it from the bottom of my heart, and I think me relaying the messages to Battlestate games will make the game only better.
Being someone who spends more time in Tarkov than most, what is something you could tell the typical player that they might not realize?
The game is so f-ing hard. I know it seems like you aren’t getting better, but the more you play the more you are getting better. You aren’t getting worse by playing, when you’re playing you are learning new things, learning new maps, and you aren’t going backwards ever.
It is a steep incline to learning the game, but once you do and once you really start getting a general feeling about the game, it will sink its claws into you and you won’t stop playing. It’s something special.
The other big thing would be that all the streamers you watch that are amazing…they have all been right where you are.
On stream, you often talk about how the Boston Bruins are your favorite hockey team. Being from Canada, how do you think this reflects on you?
You can go fuck yourself Devin, also I am a huge Montreal Canadian fan! It’s something we talk a lot about on stream. If you come by the stream and even mention hockey, I will talk your ear off. I am a huge hockey fan and love talking about it. It is a great passion of mine and I do play two days a week even in the summer time. It’s in my blood and something I love. Go Montreal!
What is your favorite gun/map combo when you decide to load into a raid?
If you asked me three months ago I would tell you a Shoreline combo because I love shoreline. But lately, with this wipe, this patch, it’s definitely been an MDR on Woods. Woods just feels like what I want Tarkov to be. You know, sneaking around, playing somewhat passive, but still listening for gunshots and trying to get angles.
The reason I really love Woods right now is because most maps, whoever sees who first, dies. Where Woods, yes you can get one-tapped out of nowhere, but a lot of times you might get shot and be able to flank, reposition, and so on. It just feels the most like a survival game, and what Tarkov is supposed to feel like.
Alright… it’s you, DeadlySlob, and Pestily running around Woods with revolvers. Who’s the last one standing?
Well I am the budget DeadlySlob, or Walmart DeadlySlob, or the Fiat of DeadlySlobs. But honestly, I think we would all become friends. I know that is super cheesy, but I think we would team up and try to kill other people. We’re all pretty friendly so we would just goof around.
Let’s talk streamer fashion Geeks. Most streamers are rocking some sort of over-ear headphones, but you roll with the plugs. Do you have a recommendation for earplugs that won’t give people the Gamer Dent™?
So, I do use in-ear monitors, I really enjoy them. Currently I am using a pair of MoonDrop Blessing 2 #NotSponsored.
I really love them. The overall look, the sound quality is amazing. That being said, I think the ratio of what you hear in-game vs. the price point definitely peaks at a certain level.
Audio is very tricky in video games because when people are developing games, they are making it for people have the crappiest headsets, and they are making it so the game is available to everybody that wants to play it. This game heavily relies on sound, but the return on investment is very minimal after about $300.
I know people want to hear that spending $700, $800, $1000 on headphones will get you this huge return on investment, and you’ll hear things no one else hears. That’s not the case most of the time.
Again, I’m not sponsored by Moondrop, but something cool that they do is that they let you borrow headphones to try them out, and if you like them you can buy them.
On Bronze League, we have a cute lil’ section called Bronze Buds where the buds of Bronze League talk about a game that is important to them. They pick a game to recommend, review, shit on, analyze, etc. Now it’s your turn. What game are you bringing to the table?
I mean, I am definitely going to say Tarkov. But, in my downtime, the game I started playing was Hearthstone. They have a battlegrounds mode that is kind of like auto-chess almost, and it’s free to play. You don’t need to spend a shit ton of money on cards because you can earn them as you play.
Another game that I have been playing at the end of my streams is Vampire Survivors. It’s such a well done game, it’s so fun, I can’t recommend this game enough. It’s $3 on Steam I think. It’s almost like a rogue-lite meets a twin stick shooter, I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s hilarious, it’s amazing. Just go try it out. You load it up and you’re like “oh this isn’t going to be that good” because of the bad graphics, and it sucks you in. It’s just so so good.
Here is your time to PLUG! Tell everyone what you have been working on and what they should be checking out.
You can search GeeksEh on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter. I have been making a lot of content for Twitch, YouTube, TikTok so any of those platforms that you enjoy digesting that content on, I will be there come check me out and say hello!
Rapid Fire Round:
Pre-stream ritual?
fat cup of coffee the size of my head because I have this huge mug, so I make sure that’s full. I also do my hair now, I used to just wear a hat but now I do my hair
Best hockey memory?
I was playing in a tourney in Las Vegas, we were in the finals. I got the game winning goal with like 10 mins left, it was just a great time because we were in Vegas, having a couple wobbly pops. Amazing time.
On Stream footwear of choice?
Socks, I 100% wear socks. No shoes in the house in Canada, I can’t stream without socks because my feet get cold in the basement.
